Dr. Johnson believes experience counts, and he combines knowledge and evidence-based practice with constant continuing education courses, including his expertise from teaching at Ohio State University.
His philosophy uses state-of-the-art technology when planning each individual treatment. Computer-assisted growth forecasting and treatment planning is used routinely, and video imaging allows for a preview of changes occurring with growth and the facial impact of orthodontic treatment.
When it comes to extractions, each patient is treated on an individual basis. Crowding is one of many considerations. Most patients can be treated without the removal of teeth, but on occasion tooth removal is the best option. Dr. Johnson only removes teeth if it is absolutely necessary.
For patients looking for an aesthetic option, clear braces are available for all patients. While metal braces are more often used on children and early teens, clear braces provide a more cosmetic experience. Clear braces are made of strong ceramic materials that do not discolor, and tooth-colored wires are also available in select situations.
One of the keynote aspects of this unique office is that we strongly endorse the philosophy of treatment patients with the following goals:
1. The Six Keys of Occlusion, which parallels outcome assessment measurements used by the American Board of Orthodontics
2. The Six Elements of Orofacial Harmony, which are three-dimensional goals to achieve maximum cosmetic results for the patient.
